Annotation

The companies of the opera houses Palais Garnier (inaugurated 5 Jan, 1875) and the Opéra Bastille (inaugurated 13 July, 1989) merged in 1990 to form the then-named Opéra de Paris. Based in its new home at Opéra Bastille, the Opéra de Paris was also often referred to as the Orchestre de l’Opéra Bastille. Opéra de Paris was later renamed in 1994 as Opéra national de Paris. – Paris Opera web archive
