The Royal Edition (Tribute edition of 100 items (119 CDs) to Leonard Bernstein released via Sony Classical)

The Royal Edition consists of 100 volumes of 1-3 CDs each, released in the early 1990s by Sony. All releases have a blue cover with a watercolour painting by (then) Prince Charles. Most consist of recordings by Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic from the late 1950s to early 1970s, but there also recordings with Bernstein and the Israel Philharmonic, London Symphony and the Orchestre national de France. A large number of Royal Edition titles were released again only a few years later in the Bernstein Century series (late 1990s), and yet again in the following years as part of a variety of box sets devoted to Bernstein.

There are still a number of errors and inconsistencies in the database regarding these releases. For starters, the titles are mostly wrong insofar as many include the word 'Volume', which does not appear in any of the covers. The proposed title format for the releases in this series is one of the following depending on whether the release has works by one or more composers, or it has its own given title (e.g. no. 69: Russian Orchestral Works):
