Poème électronique

Using tape alone, this was played through more than 400 loudspeakers inside Philips pavilion designed by Le Corbusier for the 1958 Brussels World Fair. Varèse worked at the Philips laboratories in Eindhoven to produce the montage of unmodified sounds: machine noises, bells, piano, percussion and pure electronic sounds. The effect of these sounds slowly turning and colliding in the continuous 360° sound space.
