In early 2015, Tom Petty claimed Sam Smith’s 2013 single “Stay With Me” ripped off this song. After Tom Petty contacted Smith about the issue, the two parties settled out of court. Petty and Lynne’s names were added as songwriting credits on “Stay With Me” as a result of the settlement.
